If you are having issues accessing the maps, clearing your browser's cache may resolve the problem that you're experiencing. Please follow the instructions below that correspond to the browser that you're using: MICROSOFT INTERNET EXPLORER VERSION 6.0 OR LATER MOZILLA FIREFOX VERSION 0.8 OR LATER Within the Privacy settings, you'll see several items: Click the button to the right of a category to clear that category's history. You may also click "Clear All" at the bottom to delete the content in all categories. (Please note that this particular procedure will also delete your cookies). NETSCAPE VERSION 7.1 OR LATER MOZILLA BROWSER VERSION 1.4 OR LATER OPERA BROWSER VERSION 7.5 OR LATER SAFARI BROWSER VERSION 1.2.5 OR LATER: You can also click "Reset Safari" under the Safari drop-down menu to clear all of Safari's saved history and cache. (For additional assistance, please visit the Safari support center at http://www.info.apple.com/usen/safari/.) Difficulties While Using Internet Explorer If you're having trouble using Google Local with your Microsoft Internet Explorer browser, please try the steps below to see if any of them resolves the problem: CLEAR THE BROWSER'S CACHE Clearing your browser's cache may resolve the problem you're experiencing. To do so in Internet Explorer 6.0 or later: 1. Open IE and click "Tools." MAKE SURE JAVASCRIPT, ACTIVEX, AND "BINARY BEHAVIORS" ARE ENABLED To enable these browser settings in IE: 1. Click "Tools" > "Internet Options." The easiest and safest way to enable our maps in your browser is to add "local.google.com" to your list of trusted sites in Internet Explorer. To do this: 1. Click "Tools" > "Internet Options." UPDATE THE "SCRIPTING ENGINE" OF YOUR SYSTEM Google Maps takes advantage of several advanced browser features. If your browser appears not to load Maps properly, you may need to update your "scripting engine." You can obtain the latest scripting engine directly from Microsoft: 1. For Windows XP and 2000, visit http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=C717D943-7E4B-4622-86EB-95A22B832CAA&displaylang=en 2. For Windows 98, ME, or NT 4.0, visit http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=0A8A18F6-249C-4A72-BFCF-FC6AF26DC390&displaylang=en You'll probably need to restart your system after performing this update. Once you restart your system, try Maps again to see if this step resolved your difficulty. If this didn't resolve your difficulty, you may want to try the next step. INSTALL THE LATEST VERSION OF DIRECTX Some IE users have reported that installing the latest version (9.0c) of DirectX resolves the difficulties they've experienced. To install DirectX, please visit http://www.microsoft.com/windows/directx/default.aspx CHECK FOR SECURITY SETTINGS OR BROWSER PLUG-INS Some security programs and third-party browser plug-ins are designed to modify webpage content and may interfere with Google Maps. If applicable, please try temporarily disabling components that may disable our maps in your browser. Maps Don't Appear (not using Internet Explorer) Reconfiguring the way your browser handles JavaScript may resolve this problem. Please follow the instructions below specific to the browser you're currently using. MOZILLA FIREFOX VERSIONS 0.8 OR LATER: NETSCAPE VERSION 7.1 OR LATER MOZILLA BROWSER VERSION 1.4 OR LATER Please note the current map printing limitations: * Printing in "Hybrid" mode is not currently supported on any browser. * Printing in "Satellite" mode in some browsers may be limited. This feature is fully supported only in Internet Explorer 6.0+. * The informational and driving directions call-out windows that appear on the map will not appear on a printed map. * The size and shape of a printed map may vary depending on the dimensions of your display. We are working to make the sizes of our printed maps more consistent. * The maps may not print properly if you are printing via the "File" menu in your browser. We recommend using the "Print" link near the right-hand side of the interface. Distorted Maps on Notebook Computer We're aware of the display problem some notebook computer users may experience while viewing the maps in high resolution. For more information, please see http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;EN-US;Q820286 Some individuals have reported that they were able to resolve this problem by changing the dots per inch (DPI) settings of their display to 96 DPI. To change your DPI settings to a compatible format, please follow these steps: 1. Click "Start" > "Settings" > "Control Panel." Windows may require a restart to fully apply the changes. Note that you can revert back to 120 DPI by repeating the steps above. Simply select "Large size (120 DPI)" from the drop-down menu in step five.
